Keiichiro Sato. The third generation of Sato Woodmaking KK that was founded in Yamanashi, Japan in 1934. Sato woodmaking prospered with the reputation that "Sato Woodcraft is the best choice for newly wedlife furniture", and has worked not only on furniture, but also altars, shrines and temples. Keiichiro Sato has proudly lived through with producing high-class Japanese furniture, relying only on the skill and soul of craftsmen, as if he dared to challenge the times even when the times passed and reached the present day.

Demand for large Japanese chests of drawers and Buddhist altars has fallen due to the popularization of housing, and the spread of cheap and practical furniture at mass retailers has also added a boost.

Under such circumstances, Sato dares to aim for a solitary only being. Although the production technique is based on that of a traditional woodworker, the technique and design are an exceptional combination that is not used in traditional furniture, creating works that have never been seen before. In other words, it is a work that can only be produced by Sato, who can make full use of both the "sashimono" technique of combining boards to make furniture and the "miya carpenter" technique of using pillars and roof-keeping parts. Sato steps into a world that woodworkers cannot normally step into. Because it is so original, the lacquer craftsmen and gold leaf craftsmen who finish it are unprecedentedly surprised and hesitate.

The skill of craftsmen is not limited to woodworking techniques. "Material" is the fatal core of Japanese furniture. It is indispensable to seek and collect the highest quality wood of "Keyaki (zelkova)", the king of wood, and let it dry at least for 20 to 30 years. And, only a part of the material that the best "Mokume (wood grain)" unique to zelkova stands out is used luxuriously. There is "beauty" that is forgotten by the present age, who is busy pursuing efficiency every day.

Sato's work is alive with a solemn, inaccessible, sublime beauty. Furniture and furnishings that you will want to use carefully. Sato wants to create it.

The ultimate is the "Tamatebako" chest produced by Sato. What do you call a container that is suitable for protecting something that is most important to you, instead of calling it a "Tamatebako"? For the most important time for your own, the most important time for your family, your most important person's celebrations, for example, for your daughter who is leaving for wedding, for the birth of a happy grandchild, "Tamatebako" chest will protect something at such time very very carefully.
